Indie Games @ E3 2018 – What Can We Expect
It’s June which means that E3 isn’t that far away, as usual this year’s show looks to be bigger than the previous years event. While fans and industry insiders converge on the event to see where the industry is going for the next year. Many eyes will be on studios like Microsoft, Nintendo, and Sony, indie games will have a presence at the show as well. So what kind of presence and showing can we expect from indie games at this years E3?

Normally at E3, the focus tends to be on the presentations of the larger studios. This focus tends to be extra laser-like during years where a new console is being announced. During all this hoopla a lot of announcements get lost in the shuffle, this includes indie games. So, what might we expect from indie games at this year’s show?
Some Indies in The Mix
This year’s event will feature a few places to see indie games first hand. Some of the showcases include.
These are some of the events where indie games will be showcased.
What We Can Expect
While AAA titles tend to be the star of E3, I wouldn’t be surprised if we see a few showcased during the Sony, Nintendo, and Microsoft press events. Both Nintendo and Microsoft have a history of featuring indie games during events, even though their primary focus will be on exclusive titles coming to their respective systems.
A few developers may take to social media during the event to announce their game. The bulk of indie game news from the event will most likely come from showcases like the ones listed above.
There Could Always Be A Surprise
While E3 is notorious for surprise announcements, I wouldn’t hold out hope that a surprise indie announcement will steal the show. It would be awesome though if that were to happen. There will, of course, be multiple ways to watch the event and to keep up with all the latest news that comes out of the event. Regardless of what you’re hoping to see at the event, one thing is certain, this year’s event will be a huge spectacle. A spectacle that indie games will be putting on a good show for everyone.
