VR Zone Shinjuku – VR Is The Star of The Show!!!
Tokyo is will be getting a new attraction soon, in the form of VR Zone Shinjuku. The attraction is being billed as Japan’s largest VR facility for entertainment purposes. The facility will feature virtual reality experiences some based on popular franchises. These include Dragon Ball Z, Mario Kart, and Mobile Suit Gundam. The facility will also include original VR experiences that aren’t based on popular franchises.
VR Zone Shinjuku is exactly what virtual reality needs right now
This is exactly the sort of thing I’d hoped to see from virtual reality. This is a good use for virtual reality, basically making next generation arcades. Virtual Reality is still too expensive for many consumers to consider adopting. This allows for VR to really be showcased and show people what it’s capable of. It also allows for virtual reality experiences that are more than a glorified tech demo.
If this trend of VR facilities is going to become the new normal. Then it could potentially reshape the public’s perception of virtual reality. It will also allow for developers to offer VR experiences that just wouldn’t be possible in a home setting. Experiences that could now be possible thanks to the larger setting that VR Zone Shinjuku will be offering.
Of course, having a state of the art facility isn’t enough. If places such as VR Zone Shinjuku are going to raise the profile of virtual reality. Just like the video game arcades did for actual video games, then they must make sure that the user has a great experience. Once customers leave they should already be planning their next visit. Eventually even regular visits won’t be enough and they’ll breakdown and purchase a VR device for their home. At least under ideal circumstances. Regardless a lot is riding on VR attractions such as this, only time will tell if it will pay off.
